Objective of the GameRummy is considered as a matching game of picks and discards; therefore, you need to arrange all the cards in your hand in valid sequences and/or sets. You need to complete the following objectives in order to win in rummy:
- Form at least two sequences with one pure sequence (without Joker)
- The remaining cards have to be grouped in valid sequences and/or sets
There are many concepts that you need to learn in order to play online rummy games. The basic concepts that you need to use in rummy games are as follows:
SequenceA sequence is group of three or more consecutive cards that belong to the same suit. For example: K♣ Q♣ J♣ 10♣ - K, Q, J and 10 are consecutive cards in the same suit - ♣
SetA set is a group of 3 or four cards of the same rank but belonging to different suits. For example: Q♥ Q♣ Q♦ - All the cards are of the same rank (Q) but belong to different suits ♥ ♣ ♦
JokerJokers serve as special cards in rummy games. They can be used to replace any other card to form sequence or set. A wild joker is selected randomly at the beginning of the each game; if A♥ is selected as the wild joker, then A of any suit can be used as the wild joker. For example, A♦ can be used to form a sequence of 4♠ 5♠ A♦ 6♠.
Types of SequencesPure Sequence: A sequence which is formed without the use of any joker is called as a pure sequence.
Impure Sequence: A sequence which is formed with the use of any joker is called as an impure sequence.
Game PlayRummy is a game of picks and discards; therefore, you need to make the following moves during your turn:
- Pick a card from either Closed or Open Deck
- Discard one of your hand cards on the Open Deck
Once you have formed two sequences, including a pure sequence, and arranged all the other cards in valid sequences and/or sets, you need to discard one card on the Finish Slot. You need to arrange all the cards in valid sequences and sets to declare your hand. If your hand is valid, you will win the game with zero points.
Points in RummyWinner’s Points: The winner of the game gets zero points.
Losers’ Points: The loser/losers get points based on the value of their cards.
Points carried by the Cards:Aces of all suits have 10 points each Kings of all suits have 10 points each Queens of all suits have 10 points each Jacks of all suits have 10 points each All jokers, printed and wild, carry zero points. All other cards have the same points as their face value. For example, 6♥ has 6 points and 3♠ has 3 points
